Saipan is the capital of the Northern Mariana Islands, a commonwealth of the United States in the western Pacific Ocean. Saipan is about 21 km in length and 9km in width, with a total land area of 122km2 . It is the largest island among the 14 islands in the Northern Mariana. Besides the island of Rota and Tinian, 90% of the population (about 75,000) live in Saipan.
Saipan is located 200 kilometers north of Guam (15.25 degrees north latitude, 145.75 degrees east longitude), while the inhabited islands of Rota and Tinian are located between Guam and the south of Saipan.
The population is around 75,000. Besides the indigenous inhabitant, the island is also home to people with Japanese, Korean, Pilipino and Chinese ethnicity.

The official language is English. Chamorro is the dialect. Japanese is also common in the tourist area. Both English and Japanese are commonly used for road signs. Many restaurants are operated by Chinese or Korean people. Therefore, language obstacle should not be a huge problem in Saipan.
The currency of Saipan is US dollar. The local consumption level is similar to the States.
Saipan is under the military defense of the United States. The island is with stable political situation, simple people and good order.
Traffic:
There is a small number of taxis in Saipan, and most of the taxi will be in front of hotel lobbies waiting for guests, so the price of taking taxi is relatively expensive. Car rental is convenient for a tourist having an international driver's license. There are a lot of car rental stores in Garapan, and many of them are operated by tour operators. Some car rental stores also provide pickup service that tourists can get the rented car at the hotel as per time agreed.
Small planes operate between the islands of Saipan, Rota and Tinian. From Saipan, it only takes around 50 minutes and 10 minutes to go to Rota and Tinian by air.
Aviation:
The closest US territory to China, Saipan is just a 4-5 hour flight away from most major cities in China and allows 45 days of visa-on-arrival entry for Chinese tourists.

Saipan enjoys a sunny, tropical marine climate with ground and seawater temperatures averaging 27℃ and 27.8℃, respectively.
July to November is the rainy season of the year.
